The town of Portage Lake is located in Aroostook County and is also the southernmost entrance into the St. John Valley. With the support of our 75 + members, we are able to maintain over 50 miles of  ITS trails & 30 + miles of local trails, providing access to over 2,300 miles of riding in Northern Maine’s scenic winter wonderland!

Winter being the busiest season for Portage Lake with snowmobiling, ice fishing, cross-country skiing and the Can-Am Dog Sled Races, the town’s people are never too busy to offer information or a helping hand to anyone in need!!!

Portage Lakers chosen Maine Snowmobile Association’s

2014 Club of the Year

PORTAGE LAKE, Maine — Some snowmobile clubs would fold if their groomer went through the ice, but that thought never occurred to members of the Portage Lakers Snowmobile Club. Instead, club members rallied together and raised funds for a new piece of equipment. Their determination was recently acknowledged, when the organization received the Maine Snowmobile Association’s 2013-14 Snowmobile Club of the Year award.
